The Edgewood Fair made its debut on May 3, 1967 in the Hall of Flowers in Golden Gate Park. It began as a garden festival for the Edgewood Auxiliary to sell home-grown plants and handmade jams to benefit children with mental illness. Since then, the Edgewood Auxiliary has grown the Edgewood Fair into a sophisticated two-day annual charity extravaganza raising more than $8 million to help the thousands of Bay Area children, youth, and families Edgewood Center for Children and Families serves each year.
Edgewood Center for Children and Families has a bold vision: Success is within the reach of every child. Children deserve a safe place free from abuse and neglect where they can learn and grow. In 2016, Edgewood transformed the lives of over 9,000 youth and their families. Founded in San Francisco in 1851 as a refuge for orphans of the Gold Rush, Edgewood is the oldest children’s nonprofit in the western U.S. Today, Edgewood operates residential, community based, and school-based programs throughout San Francisco, San Mateo, and Alameda counties.
